Veteran Actors Lee Soon-jae and Kang Bu-ja Quash Health Rumors, Vow to Continue Acting
South Korea's most veteran actors, Lee Soon-jae (90) and Kang Bu-ja (84), have addressed and dismissed recent health rumors, reassuring their fans.
Speculation about Lee Soon-jae's health, resurfaced following comments by actor Park Geun-hyung, was officially denied by his agency. A close associate explained that Lee is currently focusing on rehabilitation for temporary mobility issues due to weakened leg muscles after an overly strenuous year of activities. The statement added, "He doesn't want to appear frail to the public, which is why he's opted for proxy award acceptances and is even declining hospital visits." Lee, who was honored as the oldest recipient at the '2024 KBS Drama Awards,' is reportedly using this break to prepare for a full return.
Kang Bu-ja also faced concerns after appearing on KBS1's 'Morning Yard' with assistance from fellow actors. However, Kang humorously dismissed these worries, stating, "I don't know songs like 'Give Me Back My Youth.' I don't want to ask for my youth back yet because I'm still young!" Currently, Kang is actively performing in the nationwide theater production 'My Mother, 3 Days and 2 Nights,' demonstrating her enduring passion.
Despite their advanced age, both actors continue to inspire with their unwavering dedication to their craft. Fans are sending their support, eagerly anticipating the return of Lee Soon-jae after his rehabilitation and celebrating Kang Bu-ja's continued stage presence.
Netizens expressed their support, commenting, "Their passion for acting is truly the best," "Hearing they're still young gives me strength," and "Please stay healthy and act for a long, long time!"
