Sean Combs, 55, the American hip-hop magnate widely known as Puff Daddy or P. Diddy, has been sentenced to 50 months in prison on charges including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking.

According to reports from The New York Times (NYT) and other media outlets on March 3rd (local time), U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian handed down the sentence, which also includes five years of probation.

Judge Subramanian stated that a significant sentence was necessary to send a message to both perpetrators and victims, emphasizing accountability for exploitation and violence against women.

Combs was accused of orchestrating travel schedules to facilitate sexual encounters between his girlfriends and hired men during events known as 'freak-off' or 'sex parties.' He had been in custody since his arrest in September of the previous year, for approximately one year.

Combs, who rose to prominence in the 1990s as a rapper and producer, was a major figure in the American hip-hop scene. This conviction marks a significant fall from his influential position.

Netizens are reacting with shock and disbelief, with comments like "It's truly disappointing to see such a prominent figure involved in these crimes," and "Hopefully, justice will be served for the victims."
