Kim Kang-woo Opens Up About 'Teenage Son' Struggles: 'He Doesn't Stay in His Room!'
Actor Kim Kang-woo candidly shared his parenting challenges, particularly those stemming from his teenage son.
Appearing as a guest on the SBS variety show 'Running Man' on the 12th, Kim Kang-woo was asked if he ever felt the need for alone time as a father of two.
He replied, "Yes, especially during the kids' school breaks." Kim Kang-woo revealed that his elder son is in the second year of middle school, and his younger son is in the sixth grade of elementary school.
"The first one has just passed the peak of his teenage years, and the second one is just starting to show signs," he explained. "Usually, teenagers stay in their rooms, but my younger son doesn't do that. He really acts out his teenage angst, constantly complaining and expressing dissatisfaction. It's quite tough."
Kim Kang-woo added, "It's a bit difficult when my son comes out with all his complaints and dissatisfaction," leading to laughter. Yoo Jae-suk expressed surprise, noting, "Usually, they close the door and don't come out, but it's the opposite for you."
When asked if he has a personal space at home, Kim Kang-woo responded, "Hardly any. I just go to the library." Fellow cast member Song Ji-hyo chimed in, "I saw you alone at a cafe recently, reading your script. You mentioned you don't have much time alone at home," acknowledging his difficulties.
Netizens reacted with empathy, commenting things like 'Is this the joy of raising sons?', 'There must be pride along with the hardship!', and 'Fighting, Dad!' showing their support for Kim Kang-woo's relatable parenting stories.
