Kim Yeon-koung's 'Wonderdogs' Triumph Over Japan's Elite Shujitsu High School, Securing Second Consecutive Victory!
The Wonderdogs, led by volleyball legend Kim Yeon-koung, have achieved a thrilling victory against the top-tier Japanese high school volleyball team, Shujitsu High School.
In the MBC variety show 'Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung' aired on the 19th, Kim Yeon-koung's team, the Wonderdogs, faced off against Shujitsu High School, a formidable opponent known for its participation in the Inter-High School Championships.
Although initially pressured by the opponent's strong start, the Wonderdogs managed to secure the first set. In the second set, team captain Pyo Seung-ju rallied her teammates, stating, 'We need to push harder. When I hit soft shots, their defense handles it all, so hit hard!' She added, 'In a Korea-Japan match, we absolutely must win.'
The team showed unwavering determination in the second set as well. Kim Yeon-koung and Pyo Seung-ju were serious about the Korea-Japan showdown, and the setters, who had shown weaknesses last week, were flying across the court.
After losing the first two sets, Shujitsu High School's timeout became tense. Coach Nishihata critically remarked, 'Are your heads glued on? The weaknesses are clearly on the left and right,' freezing the students.
Netizens watching the broadcast enthusiastically commented, 'Director Kim Yeon-koung's class is truly different!', 'Wonderdogs players have incredible grit!', and 'Looking forward to the next match!'.
