Shin Ye-eun Denies 'Variety Show Ban', Opens Up About Busan Film Fest Charm
Actress Shin Ye-eun, following the conclusion of her JTBC drama 'A Time Called You' (literal translation), sat down with reporters to discuss her recent projects and public appearances.
'A Time Called You' concluded its run on the 19th, achieving a peak viewership rating of 7.5%. The drama depicted the youthful romance and friendships set against the backdrop of the 1980s, with Shin Ye-eun earning praise for her portrayal of Seo Jong-hee, a strong-willed bus conductor.
Shin Ye-eun, who has been steadily building her acting portfolio since her impactful role in 'The Glory', shared her feelings about the simultaneous wrap-up of 'A Time Called You' and another project, 'The Murky Water' (literal translation). "It's a bit sad that these precious projects ended around the same time. I feel there's still so much I haven't shown the audience," she expressed.
Addressing the lingering perception from her role as young Park Yeon-jin in 'The Glory', Shin Ye-eun stated, "I don't feel burdened by the label. That work gave me courage, and I see it as a stepping stone. If my acting in other roles is still perceived as Yeon-jin, that will be my homework to solve." She added, "I believe I can show different sides and characters by drawing courage from that role."
Dispelling rumors of a 'variety show ban', Shin Ye-eun clarified, "It's not true. While I need time to focus on acting and studying my craft, if a good opportunity arises, I'm open to appearing on variety shows." She also touched upon her viral charming moments at the Busan International Film Festival, explaining, "That was a celebratory event, a stage to be seen, and I acted that way because I was enjoying myself. I'm actually quite introverted and tend to stay home when I'm not working."
Netizens reacted positively to Shin Ye-eun's candid remarks, with comments such as 'I really want to see her on variety shows now,' 'Your charming moments at BIFF were so cute,' and 'She seems like she'd be good at variety shows too.'
