Soyou Claims Racial Discrimination on Flight, Passenger Alleges Intoxication
Former SISTAR member and solo artist Soyou has claimed to be a victim of racial discrimination on a flight with a foreign airline. However, a passenger who was on the same flight has come forward with an eyewitness account, alleging Soyou was intoxicated.
On the 19th, Soyou detailed her experience on her social media, stating she boarded a flight from Atlanta to Korea after her New York schedule. She explained that while tired, she requested a Korean flight attendant to check meal times. According to Soyou, the purser accused her of having a bad attitude, treated her like a problematic passenger, and even called security. Soyou asserted she had to say, 'If I'm the problem, I'll get off,' and endured cold stares and attitudes throughout the flight, leading her to question if it was racial discrimination. She added that she couldn't eat anything for the entire 15-hour flight, and the experience left deep emotional scars stemming from racial prejudice.
Following her post, an anonymous netizen commented, claiming to be a fellow passenger. This netizen stated that Soyou was heavily intoxicated and requested a Korean attendant because she couldn't read the menu while drunk. The commenter also disputed Soyou's claim about security being called.
Initially, netizens expressed support for Soyou, with comments like 'If this is true, the airline must apologize' and 'If there's clear evidence, this needs to be addressed.' However, after the counter-testimony, reactions shifted, with some stating, 'If she was drunk, the flight attendants must have been taken aback' and 'While I understand feeling wronged, it's best to be quiet on a flight.'
