Hwasa Unveils Striking Transformation with Short Bob and 40kg Weight for 'Good Goodbye'

Singer Hwasa has made a dramatic comeback with a completely transformed visual.

Fashion magazine Harper's Bazaar Korea has released its November issue featuring Hwasa, who recently returned with her new digital single ‘Good Goodbye’.

In this photoshoot, Hwasa showcased a more comfortable and natural charm, deviating from her usual powerful stage presence, with a bold short bob haircut.

In a subsequent interview, Hwasa explained her choice of ballad genre for this comeback: “This song is sung more as Ahn Hye-jin than as Hwasa,” she stated. “It's not the Hwasa on stage, but me as a person, pouring my heart into the song as if writing a sincere letter.”

Regarding the songwriting process, she shared, “I agonized over it, rewriting the lyrics hundreds of times, thinking, ‘Why can I only write like this?’ But surprisingly, there were days when words just flowed out naturally. Words that came from within me felt more genuine than grand statements.”

Hwasa highlighted the lyric, “Farewell may hurt us, but it will be elegant. Laugh loudly for me, to the point where I regret it on my knees. Goodbye,” as containing her most honest feelings in the song.

Earlier, Hwasa garnered attention for her radical short haircut and reported weight of around 40kg prior to her comeback. Addressing this on Moonbyul's YouTube channel, Hwasa revealed, “The song has a somewhat delicate and fragile feel. Like someone with a story in their heart, you know how you lose a lot of weight when you're heartbroken? I wanted to go for that kind of vibe. I spoke to my trainer about exercise methods and changed my plan to achieve a delicate, slender body. I did lose quite a bit of weight.”
