Jannabi Returns with 'Sound of Music pt.2 : LIFE,' Completing Their 'Life Saga'
The beloved band Jannabi has made their comeback, presenting their fourth full-length album, 'Sound of Music pt.2 : LIFE,' which beautifully encapsulates their unique 'Jannabi-style life saga.'
Following up on 'pt.1' released last spring and the summer side story, this latest installment, subtitled 'LIFE,' showcases the band's essence at its peak, reflecting the changing seasons. True to its title, the album blends Jannabi's signature philosophical narratives with mature emotions, painting a musical portrait of life's joys and sorrows.
Through this album, Jannabi sincerely explores the 'reasons for loving music' and the 'reasons for singing about life.' Across 12 tracks, they guide listeners through the journey of life, from the start of each day, through the passing years, youth, love, and aging.
The album features a diverse array of life's moments, including 'Earth,' depicting the daily 'landing' as one steps out of bed; 'After School Activity,' capturing adolescent rebellion; 'Oh, New York City,' portraying youthful ambition felt in New York; 'Jack Kerouac,' a song about the whirlwind of youth featuring Yang Hee-eun; and 'Mother,' a generational empathy anthem featuring Lee Su-hyun of AKMU.
Further tracks include 'Mountain People,' a song about aging; 'Ballad of Summer 1,' reminiscing about the height of summer; 'TV Commercial for Summer Night Acrobatics Show: Sweat & Stardust (skit),' a twisted view of Jannabi's summer fantasy world; 'Mia's Memories and Universe,' where a long sketch finds its completion in autumn scenery; 'All Boys and Girls 3: Glory,' bridging dreams and reality; and finally, 'Sound of Music,' an ending track filled with love and gratitude for music, bringing the life's flow to a lyrical close.
The title track, 'Goodbye My First Love,' is a ballad that merges Jannabi's characteristic lyricism with a lush orchestration. It confronts the self who has grown up while looking back at memories of first love, expanding beyond a simple remembrance to a retrospection of that time and the journey passed.
Prior to its release, the music video teaser for 'Goodbye My First Love' also maximized Jannabi's poetic sensibility. It depicted the fleeting tremors of boyhood and girlhood in everyday moments with a simple, clean portrayal of first love. The warm color palette and the tone-and-mood reminiscent of youthful memories lead to a fairy-tale-like sentiment, leaving a lingering impression.
Jannabi's fourth full-length album, 'Sound of Music pt.2 : LIFE,' is available on various online music sites starting today, the 21st, at 6 PM.
Fans are expressing excitement, commenting things like, 'Jannabi's unique sensibility, I'm looking forward to it again,' 'The title track already sounds sad and beautiful,' and 'A life saga, I feel like I'll be moved to tears already.'
