Esteemed actors Han Suk-kyu, Yoon Kye-sang, and Choo Ja-hyun are set to join forces for Netflix's upcoming series, tentatively titled 'Gwandang'.

Netflix confirmed the production on the 21st, unveiling an impressive cast that includes Han Suk-kyu, Yoon Kye-sang, Choo Ja-hyun, Yoo Jae-myung, Kim Jong-soo, and Go Doo-shim, igniting anticipation among fans.

'Gwandang' is a noir drama set against the backdrop of Jeju Island, chronicling the intense power struggle between three families vying for dominance. The title, 'Gwandang,' is derived from a Jeju dialect term for relatives who share ancestral rites, symbolizing a deep-rooted social network beyond mere kinship within the island's community.

Han Suk-kyu will portray 'Boo Yong-nam,' the patriarch of the Boo family, tasked with protecting his clan amidst the escalating conflict over Jeju's territory. Known for his nuanced performances in dramas like the 'Dr. Romantic' series, Han's portrayal is highly anticipated.

Yoon Kye-sang takes on the role of 'Boo Geon,' the second son of the Boo family, who struggles to secure his position within the household. Following his impactful roles in 'The Outlaws' and the Netflix series 'Narco-Saints,' Yoon's next performance is a subject of keen interest.

Choo Ja-hyun joins as 'Boo Yong-sun,' a pivotal figure in the Boo family, characterized by her assertive personality and decisive actions. Having showcased her powerful acting in dramas such as 'Little Women' and 'Green Mothers' Club,' Choo is expected to bring a fresh dimension to her role.

Adding further depth and tension, Yoo Jae-myung will play 'Yang Gwang-ik,' the head of the Yang family, and Kim Jong-soo will portray 'Ko Dae-soo,' the leader of the Ko family, both key players in the territorial dispute. Furthermore, Jeju native Go Doo-shim joins as 'Dae-pan Halmang,' lending her profound acting prowess and local insight to the series.

Helmed by director Choi Jeong-yeol, known for 'Vigilante,' and supported by a veteran production team behind hits like 'Squid Game' and 'The Age of Shadows,' 'Gwandang' is poised to be a major highlight of 2024, promising a compelling narrative and stellar cast.

Netizens are buzzing with excitement, commenting, "Finally, a new project from Han Suk-kyu!", "The cast with Yoon Kye-sang and Choo Ja-hyun is insane!", and "A Jeju-based noir drama, I'm already hooked." The unique concept of 'Gwandang' has also sparked considerable curiosity.
