Singer Soyou Clarifies In-flight Controversy: 'Misunderstanding Led to Unpleasant Experience'

Singer Soyou has directly addressed the controversy that arose after she revealed an incident on an international flight.

On the 20th, Soyou posted a lengthy statement on her personal social media account, once again sharing her perspective on the events that occurred on her flight back to Korea after her New York schedule.

Previously, Soyou had caused a stir by claiming that a flight attendant manager questioned her attitude and even called security personnel simply because she had requested a Korean-speaking flight attendant. At the time, she lamented, "I couldn't eat anything for over 15 hours on the flight, and it left a deep scar," even suggesting the possibility of racial discrimination.

However, the controversy escalated when a netizen who claimed to be on the same flight countered that Soyou was intoxicated and that security was not involved.

In response, Soyou clarified that she had only consumed a small amount of alcohol with a meal at a lounge and boarded normally. She suggested that the issue arose from a misunderstanding due to communication barriers. She further explained that the misunderstanding was resolved with the help of a Korean-speaking flight attendant, and she entered the country as scheduled.

Soyou, however, insisted that unpleasant situations continued even after the initial misunderstanding. She alleged that she was aggressively told to move aside while trying to avoid a cart service in the aisle, and that her request for a Korean menu was met with menus in other languages, leading to a series of peculiar incidents.

She emphasized that her intention was not to seek compensation or to expose anyone, but rather to prevent similar incidents from happening to anyone else. She also apologized to any passengers who may have been inconvenienced by her actions.

Despite Soyou's clarification, netizens are still debating, with comments like 'She should have just been honest from the start' and 'We need to hear from other passengers on that flight too.' Some fans are sending messages of support, saying, 'Soyou must have had a very hard time. It must have been tougher because of people spreading malicious rumors.'
