
TearDrop Bassist Kim Sang-young Passes Away at 42
Kim Sang-young, the bassist of the band TearDrop, has sadly passed away at the age of 42 on the 21st.
TearDrop announced the tragic news through their official social media channels. The band expressed their grief, stating, "Our beloved TearDrop bassist Kim Sang-young left us this morning at a tragically young age. He was a friend filled with passion who loved the band and music more than anyone. We cannot contain our heavy and sorrowful hearts."
Kim Sang-young had been bravely battling cancer and his condition reportedly worsened during his chemotherapy treatment, leading to his passing.
The wake has been set up at Room 1, Special Suite, Seoul Red Cross Hospital. The funeral procession will take place on the 23rd at 10 AM, with interment at the Seoul Crematorium.
TearDrop, formed in 2004, is a South Korean new/alternative metal five-member band known for their powerful guitar riffs, pop melodies, and dynamic live performances. Since their debut with the EP TearDrop in 2006, they have consistently released albums and remained active. Kim Sang-young joined the band after their second album, solidifying their sound as the bassist.
Beyond his music career, Kim Sang-young also worked as the former editor-in-chief of 'Motorgraph,' a YouTube channel specializing in car reviews, showcasing his diverse talents.
The news of his untimely demise has prompted a wave of condolences not only from fellow musicians and fans but also from the automotive review community he was a part of.
