Ock Joo-hyun Addresses 'Hidden Ad' Controversy: 'Not Sponsored, Bought Everything Myself'

Singer and musical actress Ock Joo-hyun has spoken out regarding the recent 'hidden ad' controversy surrounding her hair care product recommendations.

On the 21st, Ock released a YouTube video titled 'Reading Comments is Just an Excuse...', directly addressing the accusations. Previously, in a video uploaded on the 17th showcasing her hair care routine, she responded to comments about the high price of the products by stating, 'I've spent millions of won a month for years on hair care items specifically for hair loss prevention. I believe my hair is more important than money.'

As suspicions of hidden advertising arose due to the steep prices, Ock explained, 'Many people seem to think I created this video after receiving payment for an advertisement.' She continued, 'The reason I made this video was that many people, including fellow actors, noticed the change in my hair and frequently asked about how my hair became so voluminous. So, I made a video showing the order in which I use the care items and sent it to my acquaintances.'

She further elaborated, 'I thought it would be good to share how to use the products effectively. And then, we asked the company of the products if they could offer a special discount to my subscribers since we created the video,' she explained.

Despite continued allegations, Ock reiterated, 'It's not an advertisement. However, I admit it might look like one.' She emphasized again, 'Everything was done at my own expense. I bought all the products featured in the video with my own money.'
