Kim Se-jeong candidly shared her initial hesitation about joining the drama due to self-doubt. "I felt I was still lacking to show various sides of myself in one project." However, hearing that Kang Tae-oh would be her co-star changed her perspective. "When I re-read the script with actor Kang Tae-oh in mind, solutions to some unresolved scenes began to appear," she explained. "I even wondered why I was trying to avoid it. Ultimately, I decided to join with the mindset of 'What's stopping me?'"

Kang Tae-oh also spoke about his unique connection to the project. He recalled a fortuneteller telling him he should pursue historical dramas or romances, and later, a palm reader advised him to stay close to water and wood. When the offer for 'The Moonrise' came, it perfectly matched all these conditions – a historical romance involving water and wood. "As soon as I read the script, it was incredibly fun. So, without hesitation, I immediately said I wanted to do it."

Reflecting on the completion of filming, Kang Tae-oh expressed his sadness at parting ways with the cast and crew he saw daily for a year. "I feel so empty. It's like breaking up with a lover you've met for a year, isn't it?" he mused. In contrast, Kim Se-jeong felt differently. "I'm a bit different. I feel like I've gained a really close friend. Although the drama has ended, our connection is just beginning. Even if we can't see each other as often or keep in touch as much as we did during filming, we've gained friends who will cheer each other on from afar."
