Jung Sang-hoon Discovers True 'Family Love' Through 'Mrs. Doubtfire'

Actor Jung Sang-hoon is captivating audiences with his performance in the musical ‘Mrs. Doubtfire,’ where he portrays a father facing a marital crisis.

At a press call held on the 21st at the Charlotte Theater in Songpa-gu, Seoul, Jung Sang-hoon discussed his role as ‘Daniel/Mrs. Doubtfire,’ a father who, despite his initial immaturity, gradually transforms and comes to realize the importance of family.

Based on the original film, ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ premiered in Korea in 2022 and returns to the stage for the first time in three years. The musical delivers the message, ‘As long as there is love, family is forever,’ telling the story of how the special character ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ brings about miraculous changes for a family shaken by their parents' divorce.

Jung Sang-hoon plays ‘Daniel,’ an exemplary father to his children but a neglectful husband to his wife. After the divorce, he embarks on a precarious double life, disguising himself as a nanny, ‘Mrs. Doubtfire,’ to see his children.

He shared, “Daniel creates the person he wants to be through the fictional character, Mrs. Doubtfire. I, too, began learning through Mrs. Doubtfire,” he said.

As a father of three himself, Jung Sang-hoon added, “People who have formed a family likely have similar experiences. As I spend time with the children, I change my educational methods, and I believe this is a transformation where I practice consideration, education, and love for my son.”

Furthermore, he emphasized, “Through Mrs. Doubtfire, Daniel learns various ways of loving his children and wife. The core of the musical is the message, ‘We are bound together by heart, even if we are apart. Even if it's not a mother, but an uncle, grandfather, or adoptive parent. We love with one heart.’”

The musical ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ will run until December 7th at the Charlotte Theater.
