Local Singer-Announcer Arrested for Alleged Murder, Abuse of Teenage Daughter
A shocking case has emerged in Jinju, Gyeongnam, where a singer and announcer in her 40s has been arrested and indicted on charges of assaulting and neglecting her teenage daughter, leading to the child's death.
The Jinju branch of the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 21st that the suspect, identified as 'A', has been indicted for the murder and abandonment resulting in death of her biological daughter, 'B'. According to the investigation, 'A' allegedly assaulted her daughter on August 22nd at a residence in Namhae County, causing severe burns by pouring hot water on her. The daughter reportedly suffered for over two days in a vehicle before ultimately succumbing to her injuries.
'A' eventually took her daughter to the hospital, but medical staff discovered extensive bruising and blunt force trauma all over the victim's body, prompting an immediate report to the police. While 'A' claimed she found her daughter unresponsive upon returning home from work, the circumstances at the scene and the victim's condition have raised suspicions of foul play.
'A', who was active in the Jinju area as an announcer, singer, YouTuber, and ambassador for various organizations, has been removed from all ambassadorial positions due to this incident. Adding to the shock, it was revealed that 'A' had participated in a fire drill event hosted by the Namhae Fire Station with her daughter just the day before the alleged assault.
Police are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the exact details of the crime, the extent of the abuse, and any further signs of neglect. The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting a brutal act of violence and abandonment against a child.
