Lee Seung-yun Shares LP Production Secrets for 'Yeokseong' at Seoul Record Fair
Singer-songwriter Lee Seung-yun recently shared intriguing stories behind the vinyl LP release of his third full-length album, 'Yeokseong'.
On May 26th, Lee Seung-yun attended the '14th Seoul Record Fair', Korea's largest vinyl festival, held at Pubg Seongsu in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, as a special guest speaker.
During a session moderated by critic Kim Do-heon, he spent about 50 minutes sharing the production background of the 'Yeokseong' LP, which was simultaneously released online and offline on May 24th.
'Yeokseong', Lee Seung-yun's third album, embodies a determination to defy the undeniable, with his insightful messages woven into 15 tracks.
Discussing the sonic differences between LPs and CDs, Lee Seung-yun noted, "Releasing a vinyl involves a final process specifically for LPs. You could think of it as the final technique, the last knot tied just for the 'Yeokseong' vinyl, which might make listening even more enjoyable."
Notably, the 'Yeokseong' LP features unique sound implementation by veteran vinyl mastering engineer Scott Hull, who has 39 years of experience. "We put immense effort into producing this LP," Lee Seung-yun stated. "I asked Scott Hull, who also mastered my second album 'Dreamy Residence' LP, to work on this as well, and he tied the knot perfectly once again."
When asked which song he hoped listeners would experience first on vinyl, Lee Seung-yun chose 'To the Heart That Wants to Be Discovered'. "While working on the final audio for 'To the Heart That Wants to Be Discovered', I put a lot of effort into creating a dynamic waveform. The LP version maximizes that dynamism, so I highly recommend it."
Finally, reflecting on the one-year anniversary of 'Yeokseong', Lee Seung-yun shared, "'Yeokseong' was originally our story, but over the past year, it seems many people have undergone their own 'Yeokseong', and I am grateful for this past year."
Lee Seung-yun, a leading figure in the Korean band scene, recently achieved a triple win at the '22nd Korean Music Awards', taking home Artist of the Year, Best Rock Song, and Best Modern Rock Song. He made history as the first artist to simultaneously win in two genre categories at the awards. His influence is expanding globally, with recent performances in Taiwan, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Japan, further raising anticipation for his future endeavors.
Korean netizens reacted positively to the news, with comments like "Looking forward to the unique sound of the LP version," "Can't wait to hear 'To the Heart That Wants to Be Discovered' on vinyl," and "As expected from the talented Lee Seung-yun!"
