
Yoon Ga-eun's 'Hostage X' Invited to Hong Kong Asian Film Festival, Set for Local Release
The film 'Hostage X' (working title) has garnered international attention by securing an invitation to the 22nd Hong Kong Asian Film Festival.
Following its success in topping the Korean independent film box office since its release, 'Hostage X' has been officially invited to the prestigious festival, with director Yoon Ga-eun confirmed to attend a Q&A session on November 2nd.
The Hong Kong Asian Film Festival is renowned for premiering new works from across Asia. 'Hostage X' has been selected for the 'Cineaste Delights' section, which features prominent films that have received acclaim at international festivals.
This marks the third time Yoon Ga-eun's feature films, including 'The World of Us' and 'Our House,' have been invited to the festival, highlighting her unique cinematic voice. The festival praised the film as a "masterpiece that delicately explores genuine bonds between people while brilliantly portraying the complex and subtle inner world of adolescence."
Director Yoon will meet with the local audience following the premiere screening. The film is scheduled for its official release in Hong Kong under the title ‘若問世界誰無傷 (Is There Anyone Unscarred in This World?).’ 'Hostage X' tells the story of 'Juin' (played by Seo Soo-bin), an eighteen-year-old high school student who begins receiving mysterious notes after refusing to participate in a school-wide petition.
