Actor Choi Moo-sung, beloved for his role as Choi Taek's father in 'Reply 1988', has revealed the background story behind his early departure from his first media acting role in the drama 'The Joseon Dynasty'.

On the 29th, actress Ha Ji-young posted a video on her personal YouTube channel featuring an interview with Choi Moo-sung.

When asked by Ha Ji-young if he ever found acting for the camera difficult compared to stage acting, Choi Moo-sung humorously replied that he actually felt more relaxed in front of the camera than facing an audience. However, his first drama experience, 'The Joseon Dynasty', proved to be a challenging one.

Choi Moo-sung explained, "Historical dramas require a specific tone. I didn't adhere to it. My dialogue delivery was too casual, and the director criticized me for it, leading to my character's death in episode 18." He added, "My subordinates also died then. If it were now, I would have felt so sorry that I would have done something, but back then, I was just starting out, and it all fizzled out." He expressed regret over the situation.

He shared that he felt relieved after leaving the project, stating, "I felt pressured because my acting wasn't up to par. I accepted it because I knew the problem was with me. Although I felt deeply ashamed, it was unavoidable." He also noted that he feels much less nervous acting for the camera than on stage.

Choi Moo-sung debuted in the 2006 film 'Gangster High' and gained recognition through films like 'I Saw the Devil' before finding significant love as the father of Choi Taek in the 2015 drama 'Reply 1988'.

Korean netizens reacted with sympathy and support, commenting, "Actor Choi Moo-sung's acting is so good, it's a shame such a thing happened in his first drama!" and "It's fortunate he eventually succeeded as Choi Taek's dad in Reply 1988!" Others expressed gratitude, saying, "Thank you for sharing your story honestly."
