Lawyer Baek Sung-moon, widely known as a broadcast current affairs panelist and husband of announcer Kim Sun-young, has passed away at the age of 52 after a courageous fight against cancer.
The sad news was confirmed on October 31st at 2:08 AM at Seoul National University Hospital, Bundang, leaving many in shock and sorrow. In a touching social media post on his birthday, July 23rd, Baek had expressed his determination to recover, stating, "Even though it was a difficult battle where I feared I wouldn't be able to celebrate this birthday, I am enduring it well. It's still an uncertain process, but I must overcome it with hope, courage, and the prayers and wishes of my loved ones."
He further moved his followers by conveying his deep affection for his wife: "My wife and I, who have let go of everything and are fully focused on fighting this illness and caring for me, will overcome this well. And to my dearest wife, I am so sorry, grateful, happy, and I love you. I will overcome all of this."
More recently, he shared a photo of himself receiving a baseball uniform, writing, "Looking forward to meeting my wife, Mrs. Kim, again soon at the baseball stadium... Born in Seoul, Baek graduated from Kyunggi High School and Korea University's Law Department. After passing the 49th Judicial Examination in 2007, he began his legal career in earnest in 2010. He specialized in criminal law and gained public recognition as a legal and social commentator on various current affairs programs, including 'Sikgunbanjang' and 'Newsfighter'.
Through his broadcasts, Baek aimed to explain legal and social issues in an easily understandable manner, embodying the message of "The path we walk together."
