
Lawyer Baek Sung-moon Passes Away at 52 After Battle with Cancer
It is with deep sorrow that we report the passing of lawyer Baek Sung-moon, who was widely known for his work as a criminal defense attorney and television personality. He passed away on October 31st at the age of 52, following a brave battle with cancer.
Born in Seoul in 1973, the late Mr. Baek graduated from Kyunggi High School and Korea University College of Law. He passed the bar exam in 2007 and began his legal career in 2010, specializing in criminal law.
Mr. Baek became a familiar face to many through his appearances as a regular panelist on numerous current affairs and news programs, including MBN's 'News Fighter' and JTBC's 'Jakgeonbanjang'. He also expanded his reach through YouTube content such as 'Jeongchi Watsuda' and 'Geokjeong Mallayo Seoul'.
He married YTN anchor Kim Sun-young in 2019. News of his cancer diagnosis emerged in 2023, just four years into his marriage, drawing widespread concern. Despite his illness, he strived to continue his broadcasting work, but ultimately succumbed to his illness, leaving his colleagues and fans in profound grief.
His funeral wake has been set up at Room 35, Asan Medical Center Funeral Hall in Seoul. The funeral procession will take place on November 2nd at 7 AM, with the interment at Yongin Memorial Park.
Korean netizens have expressed their condolences online, with comments such as, "This is truly heartbreaking. Rest in peace," and "He always showed a great presence on TV. So sad to hear this news." Many wished him peace after his difficult fight.
