Shin Hye-sung (45), a member of the iconic K-pop group Shinhwa, is reportedly looking to sell a building he owns in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The news comes as the singer remains inactive due to his past legal troubles involving drunk driving and gambling.

According to a report by Hankook Ilbo on January 31st, the property was purchased in May 2022 for 4.9 billion won by 'Sagwameokneungongryong Co., Ltd.', a corporation where Shin Hye-sung and his mother are listed as executives. The building, with a land area of approximately 54.72 pyeong (around 180.9 sqm), was initially a multi-family dwelling but underwent significant renovation and expansion.

The property is currently listed for sale between 5.7 and 6.3 billion won. While this suggests a potential profit of 800 million to 1.4 billion won, financial analysts suggest that after deducting acquisition taxes, construction costs, and financing expenses, the actual profit may be minimal. The sale is largely seen as an effort to organize his assets through his corporation.

Shin Hye-sung's career has been on hold since his second DUI arrest in October 2022. He was caught driving under the influence and also faced charges for unauthorized use of a vehicle. He received a sentence of six months in prison, suspended for one year, in the appellate court last year. His first DUI offense occurred in 2007.

Beyond the drunk driving incidents, Shin Hye-sung was also fined 10 million won in 2007 for illegal overseas gambling in Macau and other locations. These repeated offenses have led him to halt all entertainment activities and engage in self-reflection.

Netizens have reacted to the news of Shin Hye-sung's property sale, with comments like, 'He needs to sort out his assets while reflecting,' 'Shouldn't he show remorse first?', and 'Hope he manages his affairs well now.'
