YTN Anchor Kim Sun-young Mourns Husband Lawyer Baek Sung-moon, Who Passed Away After Battling Rare Cancer

YTN anchor Kim Sun-young has shared her heartfelt grief and longing for her husband, lawyer Baek Sung-moon, who passed away after a year-long battle with a rare cancer.

On the 1st, Kim revealed on her husband's social media account, "My husband, lawyer Baek Sung-moon, who approached me with a kind and good smile, has entered eternal rest."

She continued, "Last summer, my husband was diagnosed with a rare cancer called sinonasal cancer. He fought fiercely against the illness for about a year through surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, but ultimately could not stop the rapidly spreading malignant tumor." She fondly recalled, "He was a gentle and kind person who never once frowned during his difficult treatment, and a devoted husband who took care of his wife's meals even when he couldn't swallow a drop of water."

Kim added, "He burned with the will to return to broadcasting until the very end. He endured with all his might, even walking barefoot after losing sight in one eye during chemotherapy to protect me. However, our earnest prayer to spend more time together was not answered."

She conveyed her sorrow, stating, "My husband, who endured so bravely, went to heaven with a peaceful expression, as if he were merely sleeping." She shared his last words, "As he was about to pass, he whispered in my ear, 'Kim Madam, I'll be alright, so don't worry and go somewhere you're not in pain anymore.'"

Kim also remembered her husband's words from last June: "Thank you for sharing the most brilliant time of my life with me." She concluded her message with prayers, "I sincerely pray that he spends even more brilliant time in heaven, always smiling with that expression."

Finally, Kim expressed her deep longing, adding, "Our promise to revisit Paris, our honeymoon destination for our 10th anniversary, could not be fulfilled. I am sharing a Paris photo, which he loved the most, in his stead."

Lawyer Baek Sung-moon passed away at 2:08 AM on the 31st of last month at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital. His wake has been set up at the Asan Medical Center Funeral Hall, with his wife Kim Sun-young and other family members receiving mourners.
