Lee Yi-kyung Continues Broadcast Activities Unfazed After Privacy Controversy; Returns to 'SOLO' Recording
Actor Lee Yi-kyung is continuing his broadcast activities as scheduled, unaffected by a recent privacy controversy.
A representative from ENA and SBS Plus's variety show 'SOLO' officially stated on the 1st to OSEN, "'SOLO' recording took place today (1st), and Lee Yi-kyung attended as an MC as usual."
Lee Yi-kyung is active as one of the three MCs on 'SOLO', alongside rapper Defconn and model Song Hae-na. This particular recording drew significant attention as it was his first studio session following the recent personal controversy.
Previously, Lee Yi-kyung was embroiled in a privacy scandal when an overseas netizen, identified as 'A', claimed on social media that they had exchanged sexually explicit conversations with the actor, alleging he even mentioned sexual crimes. Lee Yi-kyung's agency, Sangyoung Entertainment, stated that they had previously received similar threats and an apology for false information, but despite that, the situation occurred, and they announced strong legal action. Subsequently, 'A' apologized, stating the exposé was fabricated using AI, and deleted the related posts.
Although the issue seemed to have been resolved as a misunderstanding, reports surfaced linking the recent two-week hiatus and cancellation of recordings for MBC's 'How Do You Play?', where Lee Yi-kyung is a regular cast member, to the privacy controversy. However, the production team of 'How Do You Play?' clarified that the cancellations were due to news coverage of the APEC Summit and stated, "Pre-recordings were also not conducted in preparation for this, and it is unrelated to the cast member's controversy."
'SOLO', featuring Lee Yi-kyung, airs every Wednesday at 10:30 PM KST.
Netizens have commented, "It's good to see Lee Yi-kyung return to recording without any issues," and "Glad the controversy seems to have been resolved as a misunderstanding." Many are also looking forward to his continued hosting on 'SOLO'.
