Kwon Sang-woo Reveals Past Liver Surgery, Clarifies Rumors About Liver Transplant

Actor Kwon Sang-woo has revealed details about a past liver surgery, clarifying rumors about a liver transplant.

On the 1st, a video titled 'Son Tae-young's 'This' When She Misses Korea After 5 Years in the US (Must Try This Fall)' was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Mrs. New Jersey.' The video featured actors Son Tae-young and Kwon Sang-woo enjoying the autumn season with friends in the United States.

During the broadcast, Son Tae-young mentioned her enjoyment of mukbang (eating broadcasts) by YouTuber Tzuyang. Kwon Sang-woo jokingly remarked, 'If I see Tzuyang on the street, I might say hello.' When Son Tae-young expressed amazement at Tzuyang's large stomach capacity, Kwon Sang-woo humorously replied, 'My liver is big. That's why I dare to talk back to Son Tae-young,' drawing laughter from the viewers.

He then surprised everyone by saying, 'That's why I didn't cut my liver, right?' revealing he underwent surgery to remove a liver hemangioma. He explained that he had a portion of his liver resected but, due to his naturally large liver, only 30% needed to be removed, which was still a size comparable to a typical adult's entire liver.

'But because my liver was so big, it apparently grew back well. The liver does regenerate after resection. While it usually takes others two months to grow back, mine only took one month,' he proudly shared, highlighting his exceptional regenerative capacity.

Kwon Sang-woo and Son Tae-young married in 2008 and have one son and one daughter. They are currently dividing their time between South Korea and the United States for their children's education.
