K-pop sensations Cha Eun-woo and G-Dragon made a surprise appearance at the welcome dinner for the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, captivating attendees.
The summit officially opened on the 31st, with the welcome dinner held at the Grand Ballroom of Lahan Hotel in Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do. President Lee Jae-myung, along with leaders and high-ranking officials from various countries, were in attendance.
In his welcoming address, President Lee Jae-myung invoked the mythical 'Manpasikjeok' flute, expressing his hope that voices from APEC member economies would harmonize like its melody. He also highlighted Gyeongju's historical significance and its potential in the cultural creative industry, a key focus for this year's APEC.
The event was emceed by singer and actor Cha Eun-woo, who is currently serving his military duty. He confidently hosted the proceedings in fluent English, remarking, 'I never imagined I would be standing on this stage.'
APEC honorary ambassador G-Dragon delivered a powerful performance, appearing in a distinctive hat reminiscent of a traditional Korean 'gat'. He performed three songs: 'Power', 'Home Sweet Home', and 'Drama'. The audience, including heads of state, enthusiastically recorded his performance on their mobile phones.
