5 Years On: Remembering Comedienne Park Ji-sun, An Enduring Legacy of Laughter and Warmth

It has been five years since the beloved South Korean comedian Park Ji-sun left us. Today, November 2nd, marks the 5th anniversary of her passing.

Park Ji-sun was tragically found deceased at her home in Seoul on November 2, 2020, along with her mother. With no signs of external intrusion and the discovery of a note, police respected the family's wishes not to perform an autopsy.

The shock of that day remains vivid. Colleagues and fans were plunged into deep sorrow by the sudden news. The funeral procession saw countless figures, including Yoo Jae-suk, Kim Shin-young, Ahn Young-mi, and Park Bo-young, bidding a tearful farewell to the departed.

Park Ji-sun garnered immense popularity for her unique, bright, and warm humor in numerous hit segments of the sketch comedy show 'Gag Concert.' From 'Bongsoongah Hakdang' to 'Solo Heaven Couple Hell' and 'Teacher Kim Bongtu,' she delivered infectious energy. Since her debut as a KBS comedian in 2007, she achieved critical acclaim, winning rookie, excellence, and top awards. Beyond television, she was a vibrant presence on radio and hosted various entertainment shows, always spreading laughter and kindness.

Even after five years, the longing for her presence continues. Every year on her birthday, colleagues and fans remember 'Ji-sun.' This year, actress Lee Yoon-ji and singer Ali visited her columbarium, sharing heartfelt messages such as, "I'm coming to see you like an autumn picnic." Lee Yoon-ji remarked, "Today is a picnic day," while Ali wrote, "I missed your quirky, sharp front teeth today."

As time passes, the word 'longing' continues to be associated with Park Ji-sun's name. The laughter that shone on stage, the warm heart she held for others. Even five years later, she lives on in the memories of many as a 'bright person' and a 'kind comedian.'
