Park Joong-hoon Recalls Deep Bond with Late Choi Jin-sil: 'She Was So Pretty and Adorable'
Actor Park Joong-hoon reminisced about his profound connection with the late actress Choi Jin-sil during a recent television appearance.
On the March 3rd broadcast of Channel A's 'Best Friend Documentary - Table for Four,' Park Joong-hoon invited his close friends, Huh Jae and Kim Min-joon, to his home for a heartfelt conversation.
Park recalled his early days as an aspiring actor, sharing his determination to break into the film industry. "From my first year of college, I was shooting 16mm student films, working in lighting and acting. I even made handmade business cards and handed them out to seniors I met, asking for audition opportunities," he revealed.
He then delved into the behind-the-scenes story of his audition for the film 'Kambo.' "I thought I had failed the audition right away. But I ended up getting a chance by running errands at the film company," he explained, mentioning how he learned valuable lessons while assisting future acclaimed directors like Kang Woo-suk ('Two Cops') and Kang Je-gyu ('Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War').
Park stated, "The first time I heard 'Ready, go, action' was on November 11, 1985. Kim Hye-soo was in her third year of middle school then." He also spoke about the immense gratitude he felt when his second leading role in 'Mimi and Cheol-su's Youth Sketch' topped the box office, making him feel like he could carry the whole world.
He particularly remembered his collaboration with the late Choi Jin-sil in 'My Love, My Bride.' "Before Choi Jin-sil was considered, another actress was in talks, but the director suggested Choi Jin-sil, and I initially objected," he confessed. "However, once filming began, she acted so well, and she was just so pretty and adorable," he praised.
"By the time of the release, Choi Jin-sil's popularity had skyrocketed. Some posters featured her face prominently while mine was small and squeezed in," he added, recalling the immense syndrome she created in just a few months. He further highlighted their enduring connection by mentioning their reunion in the film 'To Kill a Wife' several years later.
Netizens reacted to the broadcast with comments like, "The movie starring Park Joong-hoon and Choi Jin-sil is a masterpiece even when watched today," "Their chemistry was truly great, and it's touching to hear about their special bond," and "It's sad because both are such incredible actors."
