Former MASK Member Jeon Chi-bin Reveals Reason for Group Departure on 'Ask Us Anything'
Jeon Chi-bin, former member of the idol group MASK, appeared on the KBS Joy show 'Ask Us Anything' (Mull-eobosal) on the 3rd and candidly shared the reasons behind his departure from the team.
During the broadcast, Jeon Chi-bin revealed that he had been active as an idol until 2022. He confessed that he has since lost approximately 180 million won through cryptocurrency and stock investments, accumulating significant debt, and expressed his worries about his future.
As a former member of MASK, Jeon Chi-bin was asked by hosts Seo Jang-hoon and Lee Su-geun to explain why he left the group.
He shared that despite performing on major broadcasting stages shortly after debut, he experienced conflict with another member. Jeon Chi-bin recounted an incident where, on a rainy day, he was instructed by a senior to immediately retrieve an umbrella he was holding. Although he headed back to the practice room with a smile, he was told, 'Don't smile. I don't want to see your face.'
He attempted to discuss the unfair situation, but the member allegedly broke the umbrella and assaulted him, hitting him on the head and face. This incident led Jeon Chi-bin to leave the group just four months after his debut.
Netizens expressed sympathy, with comments like 'Poor Jeon Chi-bin,' 'I supported him since his idol days, I didn't know this happened,' and 'I hope he overcomes this difficult time.'
