Musical Actor Kim Jun-young Exits All Productions Amidst 'Entertainment Venue Entry' Controversy
Musical actor Kim Jun-young has decided to withdraw from all productions he was currently participating in, following recent controversy surrounding allegations of him entering an entertainment venue.
On the 3rd, his agency and production company HJ Culture announced in an official statement, "Actor Kim Jun-young will be stepping down from all currently running productions."
HJ Culture expressed their apologies, stating, "We apologize to our audience and all related parties for the concern caused by the matter concerning actor Kim Jun-young." They added, "As the actor was involved in multiple productions, we have carefully deliberated with each production company and relevant personnel. We apologize for the time it took to announce the final decision."
The agency further stated, "While proceeding with the necessary steps to show accountability to everyone who has supported us, our initial statement was insufficient. We apologize once again."
Previously, Kim Jun-young became embroiled in controversy due to a receipt photo circulating online, sparking accusations of him visiting an entertainment establishment, which led to widespread criticism.
In response, HJ Culture had clarified, "There were no illegal activities by the actor," and stated, "We will take legal action against the spread of false information and defamation."
However, facing mounting public criticism, including a boycott movement by some fans who did not trust the initial explanation, the production company has now formalized Kim Jun-young's withdrawal.
The production company of the play 'Amadeus,' Library Company, also issued a separate notice stating, "Kim Jun-young is stepping down due to personal reasons."
Kim Jun-young debuted in 2019 with the musical 'The Love of a Spreading Rain Falls' and has since been active in numerous stage productions, including 'Rachmaninoff' and 'Amadeus'.
Netizens are commenting, "So he's stepping down after all," "The controversy got too big, so it was inevitable," and "It must have been difficult for the actor himself." Criticisms regarding the inadequacy of the initial statement are also prevalent.
