Scammers contacted restaurants, urging them to purchase alcohol and demanding money, which prompted an official warning from his agency. Four months later, in September, his one-person agency, SK Jaewon, faced controversy for operating for 14 years without proper registration as a cultural arts planning business. The agency apologized, citing an oversight in recognizing legal amendments, and Shin Sung-kyu personally clarified that the omission was unrelated to tax evasion. However, some fans expressed disappointment over the long-term management lapse.

The most painful blow came in November when his manager of over a decade was found to have misused company funds. Shin Sung-kyu shared his feelings on social media, expressing betrayal by someone he trusted and admitting to the emotional and physical toll it has taken. The status of his year-end concerts remains uncertain.
