‘Steel Troop W’ Alum Kwak Sun-hee Announces Surprise Marriage in New York with Same-Sex Partner
Kwak Sun-hee, who gained recognition through the show ‘Steel Troop W’, has announced his marriage to his same-sex partner.
On the 3rd, Kwak Sun-hee shared a post on his social media with the caption, “What is this. You did it yesterday, you rascal.” Accompanying the text were photos. The revealed pictures included a handwritten note with an 'X' mark over the phrase ‘A good day for a race,’ and next to it, ‘Marriage O,’ indicating they have tied the knot.
This fulfills his previously stated plan to register his marriage after completing the New York Marathon. Kwak expressed his affection for his wife, stating, “Especially for this New York trip, marathon, and the wedding ceremony and photoshoot tomorrow, thank you so much, my wife Jeong-min, for making the value of togetherness shine even brighter.” The shared photos also showed Kwak Sun-hee posing brightly on the streets of New York.
Previously, in July, Kwak had publicly introduced his same-sex partner. He had mentioned, “I'm participating in the New York Marathon in November. My girlfriend gladly agreed to come along, so we plan to visit together.” He added, “I heard there are places where you can have a commitment ceremony locally, so my girlfriend and I plan to do that. We're also planning a wedding photoshoot in Jeju Island at the end of November."
At the time, Kwak had defended their decision against comments about marrying too quickly, saying, “People get married in 3 or 6 months. Is there any reason why we can't?” expressing his firm belief.
Kwak Sun-hee first gained public attention as the Army team leader on Channel A's ‘Steel Troop W’ last year. He is currently active as a freelance model and marathoner.
Netizens are congratulating Kwak Sun-hee on his new beginning with comments such as, 'Wow, they really got married!', 'Congratulations! Wishing you both a long and happy life together,' and 'I've been rooting for him since his Steel Troop days, and I'm so happy for this good news.'
