Director Jang Si-won of 'Flaming Baseball' Celebrates Team's Victory Amidst JTBC Dispute
Director Jang Si-won, the creative force behind the web entertainment show 'Flaming Baseball,' has shared a cheerful update amidst ongoing legal disputes with JTBC.
On the 2nd, Jang posted a photo of a trophy from 'Flaming Baseball' on his social media, accompanied by the caption, "How can you not love this team? Feeling good." This message came shortly after his team secured a dramatic 8-6 comeback victory against a university all-star team in the program's fifth live-streamed game. The post is interpreted as an expression of his affection for the team and joy over their win.
'Flaming Baseball' is produced by Studio C1, a company founded by Jang Si-won, and follows a format similar to JTBC's former hit show 'Strong Baseball,' which Jang also conceptualized and directed. In February, Studio C1 launched 'Flaming Baseball' independently, citing alleged factual distortions and defamation by JTBC regarding production cost issues that led to a proposed change in the production team. Several cast members from 'Strong Baseball' also transitioned to the new show.
JTBC responded by filing lawsuits and injunctions against Studio C1 for copyright infringement. Although the Seoul Central District Court issued a reconciliation recommendation on the 10th of last month, both parties have appealed, and a mediation session is scheduled for mid-month. Despite these legal battles, Director Jang is showcasing a positive outlook by celebrating his team's recent success.
Korean netizens commented, "Director Jang, stay strong! We've been cheering for you since 'Strong Baseball' days," and "We're enjoying 'Flaming Baseball' too. We hope both teams do well," with many expressing support and wishing for a positive resolution to the legal issues.
