
Han Hyo-joo Lends Her Voice to KBS's Grand Documentary 'Transhuman', Exploring the Future of Technology
KBS is set to unveil its ambitious 3-part documentary series, 'Transhuman'.
Premiering on November 12th, 'Transhuman' delves into the era where machines and humans merge, with actress Han Hyo-joo taking on the role of narrator.
The documentary will shed light on cutting-edge technologies in ergonomics, genetic engineering, and brain engineering, featuring experts from around the globe. It will showcase the stories of individuals at the forefront of the future, such as Jason Barnes, a robotic arm drummer; David Liu, a recipient of the Breakthrough Prize for gene editing; Alyssa, a 13-year-old girl cured of leukemia through gene therapy; and Noland Arbaugh, an early recipient of a Neuralink chip implant.
The 3-part series will be broadcast in the following order: △Part 1 'Cyborg' △Part 2 'Brain Implant' △Part 3 'Gene Revolution'. Part 1 will explore nerve-embodiment technology with MIT professor Hugh Herr and the rehabilitation of Ukrainian war veterans. Part 2 will focus on brain-computer interface (BCI) technologies, including Elon Musk's Neuralink. Part 3 will delve into Harvard Medical School professor George Church's research on gene editing and cross-species organ transplantation.
The production team traveled to over 10 countries to meet with world-renowned scholars, aiming to present a balanced perspective on the scientific implications and ethical dilemmas of transhumanism. A spokesperson stated, "We will explore from various angles how technology can be a new hope for humanity, yet also present ethical challenges."
Han Hyo-joo, known for her delicate acting and soothing voice, is expected to make complex advanced technologies easily understandable for viewers. She recently garnered acclaim for her performance opposite Shun Oguri in the Netflix drama 'Romantic Anonymous'.
'Transhuman' will air every Wednesday at 10 PM on KBS 1TV for three weeks, starting November 12th.
