Comedian Lee Sung-mi Regrets Harsh Words to Son, Even Thought He 'Should Die'
Comedian Lee Sung-mi has revealed her deep regret over the harsh verbal abuse she directed at her son.
On March 3rd, a video titled 'Top Comedian Lee Sung-mi, Who Raised 3 Successful Children, Shares Her Parenting Methods! (Must-Watch for Parents & Future Parents)' was uploaded to singer Sean's YouTube channel. In the video, Lee shared candid stories about parenting based on her experience raising three children.
Lee recalled that when her eldest son went to study abroad in Canada after graduating from elementary school, she followed him and immigrated, but their days were like a constant battle. She explained, "He wasn't living a proper life, and I was going crazy because he wouldn't listen. Our relationship worsened, and my son went down the wrong path."
She then recounted a shocking incident where she unleashed severe verbal abuse on her son. Lee confessed, "One day, I cursed at him, saying, 'You're trash, a worm-like piece of sh*t who can't even go to school properly."' She continued, "The moment I said those words, the thought flashed through my mind, 'Should I make your son exactly as you described?' At that moment, I even thought that if he turned out as I said, he would have to die."
"After that day, I completely stopped swearing. After quitting cursing and sincerely apologizing to my son, he started studying, and there was a definite change," she added, sharing the positive results brought about by her changed approach to parenting.
Netizens who watched the broadcast left comments expressing their empathy and support, such as 'I was touched by Lee Sung-mi's honest confession,' 'This is something any parent might experience, but her efforts to deeply reflect and change are amazing,' and 'The story of rebuilding the relationship with her son is truly relatable.'
