NCT's Jungwoo Successfully Concludes Musical Concert 'This is PESTE', Expanding Artistic Horizons

NCT member Jungwoo has successfully wrapped up his run in the musical concert 'This is PESTE', further broadening his artistic spectrum.

The musical concert, held from October 31st to November 2nd for three days at the Yonsei University Auditorium in Seoul, was a concert version of the musical 'PESTE', which reinterprets Albert Camus' novel 'The Plague' through Seo Taiji's music.

Jungwoo took on the role of Dr. Rieux, a symbol of goodness and diligence. He masterfully portrayed the inner world of a character confronting the chaos of the plague-ridden city of 'Oran' with firm conviction and justice. His performance was elevated by outstanding vocal skills, subtle yet expressive changes in gaze and gestures, and narration that seamlessly guided the narrative, significantly enhancing the audience's immersion.

He showcased a wide range of musical talent, performing powerful numbers like ‘T'IK T'AK’ and ‘I Know’ (난 알아요), which depicted overwhelming fear and warnings to the world, respectively. He also delivered tender ballads such as ‘To You’ (너에게), expressing heartfelt emotions towards loved ones with a soft voice and lyrical sensibility. His renditions of ‘Sad Pain’ (슬픈 아픔) and ‘COMA’, which conveyed sorrow and confusion through subdued vocals, and the hopeful songs ‘TAKE FIVE’ and ‘LIVE WIRE’, sung with a desire for peace, demonstrated his solid ability to transcend genres and perfectly capture diverse emotions, naturally drawing the audience into the story.

Jungwoo shared his thoughts, stating, “It was a true honor to sing the music of the respected senior Seo Taiji, and it was a meaningful experience. I was very nervous at first, but I approached it with the mindset of doing my best in the given role, just like Rieux, as I had prepared diligently for a long time. Thanks to the audience who supported me until the end, I was able to complete the stage successfully and it became an opportunity to grow further. I will repay you with even more developed performances in the future. I am always sincerely grateful.”

Jungwoo is scheduled to hold his solo fan meeting, 'Golden Sugar Time', on November 28th at the Ticketlink Arena in Olympic Park, Seoul, with two showings.
