25th Jeonbuk Independent Film Festival Concludes with 'Monstro Obscura' Taking Top Prize

The 25th Jeonbuk Independent Film Festival wrapped up its five-day run on March 3rd with a closing ceremony held at the Jeonju Digital Independent Cinema.

Under the slogan 'Cheering,' this year's festival successfully concluded amidst enthusiastic audience response, showcasing the diverse charm of independent films and the vitality of regional cinema.

The Grand Prize (Ongoljin Award) was awarded to Hong Seung-gi's 'Monstro Obscura.' The jury praised the film as "a tribute to cinema and an avant-garde declaration," commending the director's dedication and passion.

Seo Han-ul's 'Asking About Your Well-being' received the Best Korean Film Award (Dabujin Award), while Lee Hyun-bin's 'Maru and My Friend's Wedding' won the Best Regional Film Award (Yamujin Award).

Actors Kang Jin-ah and Shim Hae-in from the film 'Sisters' Climbing' jointly received the Best Actor Award, demonstrating their outstanding performances. Director Park Bae-il's 'Buoyancy' received a special mention.

This year, 57 films were screened out of 1,118 submissions. Various programs, including audience Q&A sessions, were actively held. Special invited screenings, in particular, garnered strong positive feedback from the audience.
