Jin-young Opens Up on Chemistry with Jeon Yeo-been in 'The Witch's Romance'

Actor Jin-young shared his thoughts on his on-screen romance with Jeon Yeo-been in the recently concluded ENA drama 'The Witch's Romance' during a wrap-up interview.

'The Witch's Romance' tells the story of a woman from a humble background who enters into a contract marriage with a terminally ill conglomerate chairman, aiming for a big break. She must then live undercover for three months, evading those who covet the inheritance.

Jin-young portrayed Jeon Dong-min, a single father working in strawberry farming. He developed a romantic storyline with Kim Young-ran, played by Jeon Yeo-been, who arrived in Muchang under a false identity. Addressing some viewer feedback that Jeon Dong-min's emotional development felt rushed, Jin-young explained, "Dong-min is very suspicious at first. It was a situation where he couldn't help but be wary." He added, "Wouldn't you be suspicious in real life too? Someone with such impressive specs wouldn't normally come here. I felt the same, so I was more suspicious and tended to retort more during acting."

He continued, "He gradually opens his heart and falls in love, doesn't he? Looking at the drama as a whole, one might feel the love developed suddenly, but from my perspective, it felt like love at first sight." Jin-young further elaborated, "I thought she was scary, fierce, and strong, but as I learned her story, I realized she was so fragile, full of sadness, and deeply wounded. Yet, seeing her strive so hard to overcome these circumstances, I felt humanly moved. That's why I think his feelings for Young-ran could develop without considering other conditions."

Jin-young emphasized his effort to portray Jeon Dong-min naturally and with minimal affectation. "He falls in love with her purely, without any conditions or expectations. Therefore, I thought he needed to be portrayed in the most straightforward way." he stated.

Regarding his collaboration with Jeon Yeo-been, he praised her extensively. "I learned so much from her. She is an outstanding actress. She comes very well-prepared, thinks deeply, and shares a lot." He also humorously recounted an incident during a kissing scene filming where his smartwatch alerted him due to an elevated heart rate. "It was a hilarious experience. I was startled too. That scene was quite thrilling for me. While acting, perhaps my heart reacted without me realizing it. It felt like I might have actually been thrilled," he quipped, drawing laughter.
