'Unpretty Rapstar: Hip Hop Princess' Unveils Epic New Song Mission with Top Korean & Japanese Producers
Mnet's 'Unpretty Rapstar: Hip Hop Princess' (hereinafter 'Hip Hop Princess') is gearing up for its second track competition, the 'Producer New Song Mission.'
Unlike the first track battle, this mission will see Korean and Japanese contestants teaming up, promising a synergy that transcends cultural boundaries. Expectations are particularly high as each team must complete their performance with a brand-new song crafted by a main producer.
The mission boasts an impressive lineup of top Korean and Japanese producers, including Soyeon of (G)I-DLE, Gaeko, RIEHATA, and Takayori Iwata. These renowned artists will be directly directing and coaching the contestants, contributing to the overall quality of the stage performances.
Anticipation is mounting for the new tracks that will emerge from this collaboration. The lineup includes 'CROWN (Prod. GAN),' a fusion of J-POP and HIP-HOP symbolizing the contestants' passion; 'DAISY (Prod. Gaeko),' which uses elements like 'earth, rain, wind, and sun' to metaphorically represent life experiences; 'Diss papa (Prod. Soyeon),' a witty boom-bap diss track aimed at those trying to control the self; and 'Hoodie Girls (Prod. Padi, RIEHATA),' a track celebrating confident girls who can't hide their charm even with their hoods up.
The producers themselves have expressed excitement. Takayori Iwata encouraged viewers to look forward to the stages embodying the contestants' passion, while Gaeko praised the teams' perfect chemistry, rap design, skills, and performance, stating they lacked nothing. Soyeon, who is also the MC and a main producer, hinted that the stages, created by the contestants themselves, would be incredibly fresh. RIEHATA added that she was happy to participate with a danceable and fun track, providing an opportunity for contestants to showcase their bright personalities and dance skills.
A key highlight of this mission is the contestants' self-producing capabilities. They will take the lead in writing rap lyrics and choreographing, aiming to create performances that reflect their unique voices. Reports suggest their exceptional producing skills have even drawn envy from producer Soyeon.
The new songs will be released as digital singles following the broadcast. The second round of voting is underway and will conclude on Thursday, the 6th, at 12 PM (KST). Fans can participate via Mnet Plus in Korea and globally, and U-NEXT in Japan. 'Hip Hop Princess' airs every Thursday at 9:50 PM (KST) on Mnet and is available on U-NEXT in Japan.
Korean netizens are buzzing with excitement, with comments like 'The producer lineup is amazing!', 'I'm already looking forward to Soyeon's produced track,' and 'Stages made by the contestants themselves will be so fresh!' flooding online communities.
