Jeon Yeo-been on 'The Witch: Part 2. The Other One' Ratings: 'Cannot Link Quality and Viewership'
Actress Jeon Yeo-been shared her thoughts on the viewership ratings for the recently concluded drama ‘The Witch: Part 2. The Other One’.
The 12-episode series, which wrapped up on April 4th, is a crime romance about a low-income bodyguard who enters into a contractual marriage with a terminally ill chaebol chairman, facing a countdown to a life reset. She must survive for three months by changing her identity to evade those coveting the vast inheritance.
The 11th episode, aired on March 3rd, achieved a personal best viewership rating of 6.3% nationwide and 6.2% in the Seoul metropolitan area, marking the highest rating for an ENA drama in 2025.
Addressing the impressive response, Jeon Yeo-been stated, “I didn’t feel pressure regarding the ratings. On set, I focused on creating wonderful scenes with the staff. This is not a solitary endeavor, and I felt immense gratitude.” She added, “If criticism were to arise, I felt it was my responsibility as the lead, and I approached it with a sense of accountability rather than fear.”
Citing her previous work ‘Melo Is My Nature’, she shared, “Its viewership rating was 1%, yet it received a lot of love later through OTT services. I realized ratings aren't everything, and I believe you cannot link artistic quality with viewership.” However, she confessed, “I am very grateful for achieving good ratings with this project, as it’s something I, as an actor, always aspire to.”
Jeon Yeo-been also humorously mentioned a promised incentive: “We were promised a reward vacation to Bali if we surpassed 7% in viewership. I hope they’ll send us if we hit that target in the finale!”
Following the drama's conclusion, Korean netizens commented on Jeon Yeo-been's remarks about ratings, with many agreeing, saying, "I understand the character Yeong-ran's position" and "I agree that artistic quality is more important than ratings." Some fans sent supportive messages like, "Please go to Bali for the reward vacation!" and "Looking forward to your next project."
