Actor Park Joong-hoon Reflects on 1994 Marijuana Incident: 'Gravel and Sand of My Life'
Veteran actor Park Joong-hoon has openly addressed his past mistakes, including the 1994 marijuana incident, during a press conference for his new essay collection, 'Don't Regret'.
Speaking at the event held on December 4th at the 1928 Art Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, Park stated, "I accept even my past wrongdoings as part of who I am today."
He explained his decision to include these sensitive topics in his book, saying, "Simply reciting praises would lack sincerity. I believed that being honest about past mistakes, like the marijuana incident in the 90s, would build trust in this book."
Park elaborated on the importance of reflecting on and integrating all life experiences, stating, "Whether good deeds or mistakes, looking back at this age, it's crucial to review everything and carry it forward positively."
Using a metaphor, he added, "Just as cement hardens when mixed with gravel and sand, everyone has flaws, and overcoming them makes a person strong. My past mistakes played the role of gravel and sand in my life. I now accept those past errors as a part of my life."
Published on October 29th, 'Don't Regret' chronicles Park's 40-year acting career, encompassing moments of joy, sorrow, and gratitude. The essay collection embodies his life motto: 'Reflect, but do not regret.'
Korean netizens reacted positively to Park's candid confession, with comments like "It's good to see him acknowledge and overcome his past" and "It's welcome news after a long time," showing support for his sincere attitude.
