Jonathan Bailey Crowned People's 'Sexiest Man Alive 2025'
British actor Jonathan Bailey, 37, has been named People magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive 2025'.
The announcement, made on NBC's 'The Tonight Show' on November 3rd, marks the 40th anniversary of the iconic title. Bailey, who gained global popularity for his role as Anthony Bridgerton in Netflix's 'Bridgerton,' expressed his delight, calling it "utterly surreal but a career highlight."
He follows in the footsteps of 2024 honoree John Krasinski. Bailey's journey into acting began at the young age of five after seeing the musical 'Oliver!', and he made his stage debut with the Royal Shakespeare Company at seven.
His impressive stage career includes a starring role in Shakespeare's 'Richard II' this year. On screen, he earned an Emmy nomination in 2024 for his role in Showtime's 'Fellow Travelers' and visited Korea for the release of 'Jurassic World: Dominion' earlier this year.
Bailey recently received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Prince Fiyero in 'Wicked,' with the sequel 'Wicked: For Good' set to release on November 21st.
An openly gay actor, Bailey also co-founded 'The Shameless Fund,' an organization supporting the LGBTQ+ community. He stated, "It feels meaningful to be able to do something impactful at a time when the LGBTQ+ community is being threatened."
Bailey now joins an illustrious list of past recipients, including Mel Gibson, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Dwayne Johnson, making his continued success highly anticipated.
Fans are showering Bailey with congratulations, with comments like, "Knew it from his role as Anthony Bridgerton in 'Bridgerton'!" and "He's got the looks, the talent, and he does good deeds too." Many express excitement for his future projects.
