&TEAM Scores First Korean Music Show Win with 'Back to Life' on 'The Show'
Global boy group &TEAM, under HYBE, is making significant strides in the K-pop scene, clinching their first music show trophy in Korea.
The nine-member group, consisting of Eiji, Fuma, K, Nicholas, Yuma, Jo, Harua, Taki, and Maki, secured the number one spot on the cable channel SBS M's 'The Show' on November 4th, with their title track 'Back to Life' from their first Korean mini-album.
Visibly moved, the members expressed their gratitude, stating, "Just being nominated for first place felt surreal, but receiving this award after our Korean debut makes it even more meaningful. We owe this to our fans, LUNÉ. Thank you so much."
Since their Korean debut on October 28th, &TEAM has been experiencing a surge in popularity. Their mini-album 'Back to Life' sold over 1.13 million copies on its release day alone, topping the Hanteo Chart's daily ranking. With a total first-week sales (October 28 - November 3) of over 1.22 million copies, they have firmly joined the ranks of 'top-tier groups' in the heart of K-pop.
This success follows their previous achievement of selling over a million copies with their third Japanese single 'Go in Blind,' earning a Gold Disc certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan. &TEAM is the first Japanese artist to achieve million-seller status in both Korea and Japan.
Their strong presence in Japan remains unwavering. 'Back to Life' also topped Japan's Oricon 'Weekly Album Ranking' (dated November 10th) and Billboard Japan's 'Top Album Sales' (for the week of October 27th - November 2nd). 'Back to Life' marks the first time a Japanese artist's Korean-language album has reached number one on both of these charts.
Beyond their musical achievements, &TEAM showcases their charm through a variety of engaging content. They have appeared on shows like 'Studio Choom,' 'Idol Human Theater,' and 'The Return of Superman,' and even made a surprising appearance as weathercasters on YTN News on November 4th. Eiji led the on-site report, while K and Harua offered tips on dressing for seasonal temperature changes and staying healthy. The segment concluded with the group's signature 'wolf pose,' leaving a lasting impression.
Formed through HYBE's global debut project '&AUDITION - The Howling' in 2022, &TEAM is a nine-member group. While Korean leader Eiji and Taiwanese member Nicholas add to the group's global appeal, the remaining seven members are Japanese.
Korean netizens are celebrating &TEAM's win, with comments like, "Amazing to get #1 right after debut!", "Truly a global group from HYBE," and "Looking forward to their future activities." The fans are showing immense support for their rapid success.
