Popular mukbang YouTuber Sanghaegi (real name Kwon Sang-hyeok) has broken his silence after approximately 40 days, apologizing for his actions following his third arrest for drunk driving and resisting a breathalyzer test.

In a statement posted on his YouTube channel, Sanghaegi began by expressing deep apologies for his prolonged silence. He explained, "I struggled to decide what to say due to guilt, fear, and the thought of disappointing those who believed in me."

He continued, "I spent a lot of time alone reflecting deeply on myself. I am spending each day repenting for how wrong my actions were and how much pain I have caused to so many people."

Sanghaegi was arrested on September 23rd in Gangnam, Seoul, for driving under the influence and attempting to flee from police who requested a breathalyzer test. This marks his third offense, following previous DUI convictions in 2020 and 2021, which had already shocked the public.

Sanghaegi, who began his career as an AfreecaTV BJ in 2018 and became a major YouTuber in 2019, also ventured into business by launching a french fry brand.

Netizens have expressed disappointment and anger, commenting "Is an apology after all this time enough?" and "He should have reflected and repented much earlier," with many feeling betrayed by his delayed acknowledgment.
