Koo Jun-yup's Gaunt Appearance Worries Late Hsu Chi-yuan's Family
Singer Koo Jun-yup (56), formerly of the group Clon, has shown a significantly thinner appearance, prompting concern even from the family of his late wife, Hsu Chi-yuan.
According to Taiwanese media reports on the 4th, Lily, Hsu Chi-yuan's niece, mentioned at an event, "Uncle Koo Jun-yup still visits our home every week for dinner. Seeing how thin he is, the family keeps putting meat and vegetables on his plate. We hope he regains his health."
Earlier, Koo Jun-yup attended a family party on the 17th of last month, following his sister-in-law Hsu Chi-Chieh's award for Best Host at the '60th Golden Bell Awards'. At the time, Taiwanese media outlet CTWANT released photos of him at the gathering, wearing a hat and mask, drawing attention to his considerably more emaciated look compared to before.
Local reports indicate that Koo Jun-yup has lost over 10kg since his wife, Hsu Chi-yuan, passed away in February due to influenza complicated by pneumonia. Hsu Chi-Chieh shared in a recent interview, "My brother-in-law visits the mountain where my sister is buried every day to eat, and his house is full of my sister's portraits. Perhaps one day he might hold an exhibition," highlighting how deeply Koo Jun-yup still misses his late wife.
Koo Jun-yup and Hsu Chi-yuan first met in 1998 and reconnected after more than 20 years, marrying in 2022. However, having lost his wife just two years into their marriage, he continues to personally tend to her grave and maintain his close ties with her family.
Netizens expressed their sympathy, commenting things like 'So heartbreaking,' 'He seems to be going through a very difficult time,' and 'My heart aches for him. I hope he regains his health and strength.'
