NewJeans Gears Up for First Comeback in 8 Months, Promises 'Authentic NewJeans Sound'

Group NewJeans is set to make their highly anticipated comeback eight months after their debut, with their first mini-album titled 'LOUDER THAN EVER'.

The album, releasing on the 6th, clearly outlines NewJeans' direction towards the global music scene. Featuring all English lyrics, it aims to deliver universally relatable messages and sensual sounds.

The title track, 'Look So Good', centers on themes of confidence and challenge, conveying a message of proving one's potential on stage. It offers a modern reinterpretation of the retro vibe of early 2000s pop R&B, spreading a positive energy that everyone can be a star.

In an interview with OSEN, the members shared their feelings about their first comeback after a hiatus. "There was an 8-month break. We pondered what defines 'NewJeans-ness' and how we could bring a fresh feel," they explained. "We've prepared for a long time, so we hope you look forward to it."

Park Min-seok elaborated on their unique identity: "For our debut, we released a full-length album, experimenting with various genres. Similarly, for this mini-album, we've prepared a pop track with all English lyrics to show what NewJeans does best."

Kim Ri-u spoke about the members' efforts in perfecting the English lyrics, noting, "Yoon-hoo hyung was a great help in teaching us pronunciation and nuances." Jo Yoon-hu added, "The members really put in diverse efforts and were receptive to feedback."

Jeon Yeo-yeojeong highlighted the significant shift in concept and choreography. "Unlike the intense energy and vibrant colors of our first album's title track, which had a hip-hop feel, 'Look So Good' presents a more refined, polished stage with a focus on sensuality. You'll feel a 180-degree transformation."

Describing the title track, Park Min-seok said, "'Look So Good' carries forward the message from our first album, emphasizing that our uniqueness, like horns, isn't wrong but simply different. It means loving ourselves as we are and accepting our own beauty. The song's vibe is more subdued and has a sexier pop groove, showcasing the mature charms of the members."
