Director Kang Bo-seong of SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Taxi Driver 3' has shared his insights into directing the latest season.

'Taxi Driver 3', a sequel to the highly successful series that garnered a 21% viewership rating and won Best Drama Series at the Asian Television Awards (ATA), is poised for another hit.

Director Kang, who served as an assistant director in Season 1, expressed his surprise at reaching Season 3. "I never expected it to go this far," he stated. "I made an effort not to forget the humble goals and sincerity we had when we first started the drama."

He revealed that he collaborated closely with writer Oh Sang-ho from the initial script for episode 1 to discussions on themes and genres for the final episode, bringing Season 3 to life.

A key point of differentiation for Season 3, according to Director Kang, is the unchanging nature of the core 'Rainbow Taxi' crew. "Their personalities, relationships, and even Kim Do-gi's combat abilities are constants," he explained. "To maximize the outcome based on these constants, we focused on varying the 'variables' – the villains who represent societal evils."

He also highlighted the meticulous attention given to the villains' environments through art direction and the precise, concise camera work designed to capture the actors' energetic performances, all tailored to Kim Do-gi's various alter egos and action sequences.

Regarding the real-life inspired episodes, Director Kang emphasized 'motivation' as the most crucial element. "The motivation for taxi company employees to punish villains, rather than detectives catching criminals, stems from emotion," he said. "We aimed to enhance the justification and satisfaction by deeply portraying the narratives of the 'survivors' instead of just victims, embodying a sense of justice that should exist even if it's not found in reality."

He praised the 'Rainbow Taxi' team – Lee Je-hoon (Kim Do-gi), Kim Eui-seong (CEO Jang), Pyo Ye-jin (Go-eun), Jang Hyuk-jin (Choi Doo-ho), and Bae Yoo-ram (Park Doo-ho) – for their exceptional teamwork, which significantly speeds up filming.

Director Kang further heightened anticipation by revealing a unique point for Season 3: the use of a 'key color' for each episode to make them distinct and memorable, along with the enjoyment of experiencing various genres adapted to the episode's nature.

Korean netizens are buzzing with anticipation for the premiere of 'Taxi Driver 3', with comments like "Finally, they're back!", "What kind of satisfying justice will this season's villains bring?", and "The Rainbow Taxi crew is always reassuring to see."
