ILLIT Confirmed for Second Consecutive Year at Japan's 'FNS Music Festival'
K-pop rising stars ILLIT are set to grace the stage of Japan's prestigious year-end music program, '2025 FNS Music Festival,' for the second year in a row, solidifying their significant popularity in the Japanese market.
On December 6th, their agency Belift Lab announced that the group has officially been included in the lineup for the festival, scheduled to air on December 10th. The 'FNS Music Festival,' which began in 1974, is one of Japan's most popular year-end music shows, bringing together artists who have made a mark throughout the year for live performances.
ILLIT's invitation marks a significant achievement, especially considering they were invited last year even before releasing a formal album in Japan. This year, the group has demonstrated remarkable success in the Japanese music scene. Their first Japanese original song, 'Almond Chocolate,' released in February, gained viral traction and achieved a remarkable feat by surpassing 50 million streams in just five months. It earned a 'Gold' certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for streaming, setting a record for the fastest certification by an international artist in the current year.
Following their official debut, ILLIT's impact has only grown stronger. Their debut Japanese single 'Toki Yo Tomare,' released in September, dominated the top spots on major charts like Oricon and Billboard Japan. Both the title track and the B-side 'Topping' were featured as theme songs for a Japanese web series and a commercial, respectively, resonating with the Gen Z audience and the general public alike. The group has also been receiving numerous advertising offers across various sectors, including fashion, food, and tourism.
Further showcasing their star power, ILLIT sold out all dates of their first fan concert tour, '2025 ILLIT GLITTER DAY IN JAPAN,' attracting a total of 40,000 fans. They have also made their presence felt on major Japanese festival stages, including the 'Mynavi Tokyo Girls Collection 2025 AUTUMN/WINTER' and 'ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL 2025.'
Meanwhile, ILLIT is gearing up for the release of their first single album 'NOT CUTE ANYMORE' on the 24th. Prior to their comeback, the group will hold '2025 ILLIT GLITTER DAY IN SEOUL ENCORE' on December 8th and 9th at the Olympic Hall in Seoul Olympic Park, meeting with their fans.
Korean netizens are celebrating ILLIT's continued success in Japan, commenting things like, 'They really are the global trendsetters,' 'ILLIT's charm is captivating Japan too!', and 'Looking forward to their next comeback.'
