AI-Generated 'Child of Jung Woo-sung' Photos Circulate; Moon Ga-bi Strongly Refutes 'Clear Fabrication'
The advancement of AI technology is increasingly leading to privacy violation controversies. Following actor Lee Yi-kyung, a case has now emerged where a virtual image of a child, supposedly born between model Moon Ga-bi and actor Jung Woo-sung, was created and disseminated using AI.
Moon Ga-bi, who recently revealed she is a single mother, shared glimpses of her daily life with her son on social media. This son was previously confirmed to be actor Jung Woo-sung's biological child, causing significant public attention. Amidst this spotlight, Moon Ga-bi adopted a cautious approach, even closing her comment sections.
However, matters escalated when synthesized images of a child, combining Moon Ga-bi's and Jung Woo-sung's features, began to circulate. Videos created using these images were even shared on YouTube channels. These were images of a child whose face Moon Ga-bi had never publicly revealed.
Moon Ga-bi immediately responded, strongly stating, "Content was posted as if I had revealed my child's face and left official interview-style remarks, using my photos without consent for unauthorized illegal production. The depiction of me and my child in that video, along with the accompanying text, are clear falsehoods that are not true. It is an AI-generated composite video made by unauthorized use of original photos."
This incident is being criticized not just for sensationalism but for the malicious exploitation of AI technology. The unauthorized creation of a child's image, which Moon Ga-bi has never disclosed, and the leveraging of the Jung Woo-sung paternity issue have angered many.
Previously, in February, actor Lee Yi-kyung also suffered significant reputational damage due to AI-generated rumors about his private life. At the time, Lee Yi-kyung's agency announced a firm stance against leniency.
Moon Ga-bi appealed, "I urge you to refrain from acts that violate the law by distorting the daily lives of mothers and children, including false photos and videos that do not depict the child's actual appearance." The call is growing for AI technology not to be used as a tool for infringing upon personal privacy.
Netizens expressed concerns about the indiscriminate use of AI technology and privacy violations, commenting, 'I never imagined AI technology would be misused like this,' 'Falsifying a child's face is a crime,' 'How shocked Jung Woo-sung must be,' and 'How difficult this must be for Moon Ga-bi.'
