CJ ENM Reports Strong Q3 2025 Results Driven by Hit Dramas and Platform Growth
CJ ENM has announced robust financial results for the third quarter of 2025, attributing its success to the strong performance of its well-produced content and enhanced platform competitiveness.
The company reported consolidated revenue of 1.2456 trillion KRW and an operating profit of 17.6 billion KRW, demonstrating stable growth. The Entertainment division, in particular, was driven by the heightened buzz of its dramas, expanded global distribution, and the growth of platforms like TVING and Mnet Plus.
The Film & Drama division saw a remarkable turnaround, posting a revenue increase of 48.2% year-on-year to 372.9 billion KRW and achieving profitability with an operating profit of 6.8 billion KRW. The successful supply of premium content from Fifth Season, including 'The Savant' and 'His and Hers,' alongside the box office success and international sales of the film ‘Eojjeolsuga Eopda’ (It Can't Be Helped), significantly contributed to the improved performance. Notably, Fifth Season's production ‘Severance: Disconnection’ achieved a major feat by winning 8 awards at the 77th Emmy Awards.
Despite high viewership for key dramas like 'The Tyrant's Chef' and 'Seocho-dong,' the Media Platform division recorded a revenue of 319.8 billion KRW and an operating loss of 3.3 billion KRW, impacted by the sluggish advertising market. However, TVING experienced significant growth, with its synergy with Wavve leading to a combined monthly active users (MAU) of 10 million (excluding duplicates). The introduction of Ad-Supported Video on Demand (AVOD) plans also fueled a 74.7% surge in advertising revenue for the first three quarters compared to the previous year.
The Music division's revenue rose by 8% year-on-year to 197.3 billion KRW, buoyed by ZEROBASEONE's first full album achieving six consecutive million-seller titles and increased revenue from Mnet Plus. However, operating profit stood at 1.9 billion KRW due to expanded investments in new artists.
The Commerce division's profitability improved significantly, with revenue up 6.5% year-on-year to 355.7 billion KRW and operating profit soaring by 37.5% to 12.6 billion KRW. Mobile live commerce transactions, in particular, showed rapid growth, increasing by 62.8% year-on-year in the third quarter.
Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, CJ ENM plans to accelerate profit enhancement based on its content and platform strengths. TVING will strengthen its original lineup with titles like 'Transit Love 4,' while the Film & Drama division aims for simultaneous global releases of anchor IPs such as ‘Taepung Sangsa’ (Typhoon Corporation). The Music division will focus on the '2025 MAMA AWARDS' and ZEROBASEONE's world tour, and the Commerce division will continue its growth through year-end promotions and collaborations with trendy brands like 'Pop Mart.'
A CJ ENM representative stated, "In Q3, we built a foundation for sustainable growth centered on our unparalleled content and platform competitiveness," adding, "We will further strengthen profitability through global partnerships and platform advancement."
Netizens reacted positively to CJ ENM's Q3 earnings report, with comments like 'As expected from CJ ENM, dramas and TVING carried the performance,' 'Severance's 8 Emmy wins is truly amazing,' and 'ZEROBASEONE hitting million-seller status, they are indeed the current trend.'
