Broadcaster Jung Ju-ri Closes SNS Comments Amidst 'Silent Treatment' Controversy with YouTuber 'Death Fox'

Broadcaster Jung Ju-ri has ultimately closed the comment sections on her social media after failing to respond to allegations raised by the exposé YouTuber 'Death Fox' regarding an advertisement for a cosmetic brand facing controversy over false and exaggerated advertising.

In August, YouTuber Death Fox uploaded a video alleging false and exaggerated advertising practices by a cosmetic brand. Jung Ju-ri, who was the model for the product and appeared in the advertisement at the time, issued an apology through her Instagram and YouTube community posts as the controversy escalated. Jung Ju-ri's side explained in the apology that there had been negative reports about the brand, and they had repeatedly informed the brand that they could not participate in advertisements containing factual inaccuracies and had requested the deletion of the ads.

However, in a video released on the 5th, Death Fox raised questions about Jung Ju-ri's apology. The YouTuber pointed out that if the apology were accurate, measures should have been taken swiftly. Death Fox highlighted that the advertisement video was not deleted for a long time and that Jung Ju-ri's promotional posts remained visible until the day Death Fox's video was uploaded, emphasizing that the situation differed from the explanation provided.

Death Fox revealed that despite multiple attempts to contact Jung Ju-ri's side through various channels, including Instagram DMs, emails, and YouTube comments since mid-June, seeking her stance on the model contract process, pre-ad verification, and inadequate measures taken after the apology, there was not a single response. The YouTuber specifically added that a comment they left on one of Jung Ju-ri's Instagram posts was confirmed to have been 'hidden' from other users.

Upon learning of this 'no response' situation, many netizens flocked to Jung Ju-ri's social media and YouTube channel, leaving numerous comments demanding that she respond to Death Fox. Consequently, Jung Ju-ri was confirmed to have disabled the comment function on her channels and social media on the afternoon of the 6th. This move is interpreted as a response to feeling pressured by the influx of critical comments from fans and the public, following her continued 'evasion' of answering the YouTuber who raised the questions, rather than clarifying the suspicions.
